Reopening Timeline

  • The Southern Lehigh School District has established the following reopening timeline to coincide with the Health and Safety Plan guidance provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Please note that this timeline includes some dates that are tentative and subject to change. Additional timeline information will be added as the Southern Lehigh School District continues to develop reopening plans and as additional information becomes available from Federal, State, and Local health authorities. 

    • 6/03/20:   The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Sends Preliminary Phased Reopening Guidance to PA School Districts
    • 6/04/20:   SLSD Reopening of Schools Survey Sent to SLSD Families and Staff
    • 6/05/20:   The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Sends Health and Safety Plan Template to PA School Districts
    • 6/22/20:   The Southern Lehigh School District Building Admin Start Planning Discussions In Building Teams (Ongoing)
    • 6/22/20: Approval of Southern Lehigh School District Return to Play Athletics Plan
    • 7/06/20:   Path to Reopening K-12 Schools Community Taskforce Meeting #1
    • 7/13/20: Path to Reopening K-12 Schools Community Taskforce Meeting #2
    • 7/15/20: SLSD K-12 Staff Reopening K-12 Schools Forum 
    • 7/20/20: Board Discussion and Approval of SLSD Health and Safety Plan 
    • 7/24/20: SLSD Return to School Decision Survey Sent to SLSD Families

    • 9/24/20: Communication Outlining Phased Return of Secondary Students

    • 10/19/20: Return of all Remaining Secondary Students in the Hybrid Instructional Model 
    • 3/1/21: Return of all current Hybrid instruction Students (K-12) to a 4 Day Per Week In-Person Instructional Model
    • 4/6/21: Return of all interested Fully Remote Students (K-12) to a 4 Day Per Week In-Person Instructional Model
