Meet Mrs. Gilley

Hello!  I am so happy to be a first grade teacher at Hopewell Elementary School.  This is my 14Th year with my own classroom and I am still very happy to be a teacher!

    Some personal information.....

I live in Macungie with my husband and have recently become an "empty nester".  I have two daughters; Meghan, a graduate of Appalachian State University and currently working as a caseworker for the Impact Project and Christina, a 22 year old grad student at Elizabethtown College majoring in Occupational Therapy.

    My education....

I graduated from Parkland High School and Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Math.  After college, I took an alternate path and worked professionally in the banking industry for 23 years.  I decided to change careers and return to my original love, teaching.  I have been teaching first grade for 13 years and have taken graduate level courses in the field of elementary education, hoping to earn my master's equivalency later this year.

Things I love that are not school related...
