Walking to Water

Students in Academic Literacy are reading "A Long Walk to Water". In order to empathize with one of the characters, Nya, students took turns walking down the hallway with a bucket containing a gallon of water or an empty bucket. Kids quickly felt compassion for Nya, knowing that she had to carry much more water for a longer period of time.
