Southern Lehigh SD Employee Groups
-
The Southern Lehigh SD categorizes employees by (a) representation and (b) classification. Represented employees are subject to a collective bargaining agreement, which specifically outlines the terms and conditions of their employment whereas non-represented groups do not have a collective bargaining agreement. However, the Southern Lehigh SD does provide all employees - represented or non-represented - with clear guidelines with respect to compensation and benefits.
In keeping with our commitment to transparency, the Office of Human Resources has published all employee compensation plans and agreements for public view. We encourage prospective applicants to review the pertinent documents, which are organized by employee classification, especially if they receive an employment offer to work in the Southern Lehigh SD.

[DISTRICT WIDE] Extracurricular Activities & Daily Substitute Employee Rate Schedule
Extracurricular Activities
The Southern Lehigh SD offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities ranging from the athletic to the academic and the non-academic with the goal of developing and nurturing the talents of all of our students. These activities are often led by our own employees but we invite individuals from within and outside the community to apply for positions, especially those that are often difficult to fill. Note that the compensation rates for all activities are outlined under Part III (Compensation) of the SLSD-SLEA CBA; these rates apply to both internal and external applicants.
Some extracurricular activities such as sporting competitions or theater performances may require individuals to assist with one or more events. These employees (known as "Event Workers") receive a fixed rate specific to the event (e.g., ticket seller for a game, video choreographer). You can view the Extracurricular Event Rate Schedule by clicking HERE. The current Extracurricular Event Rate Schedule is in effect for SY2023-24 (August 28, 2023-June 10, 2024); rates are approved annually by the Board of School Directors.
Substitute Employee
The Southern Lehigh SD welcomes substitute employees, professional or support staff, to work on a per-diem basis. Substitute professional employees require a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Permit and the Office of Human Resources is happy to assist you with (and pay for) that process. You can view the Substitute Employee Rate Schedule by clicking HERE. The current Substitute Employee Rate Schedule is in effect for SY2023-24 (August 28, 2023-June 10, 2024); rates are approved annually by the Board of School Directors.
